A special PMLA court here on Monday rejected former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Sorens bail plea in an alleged land grab linked money laundering case in which he was arrested on January 31, official sources said. He had also sought interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections till the court delivered its verdict. It is noteworthy that Hemant Soren was arrested by ED on 31 January 2024 after a long interrogation. ED has so far arrested many people including former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in this case related to land scam. All the accused are currently lodged in Hotwar (Birsa Munda Central Jail). In this case, within 60 days of the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on March 30, ED has filed the special court charge sheet of PMLA. In which former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, suspended Deputy Revenue Officer Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Architect Binod Singh, Rajkumar Pahan and Hilarius Kachhap have been made chargesheeted accused. Out of which Hilarius Kachhap has died.   After completion of the remand period, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team presented Minister Alamgir Alams PS Sanjeev Lal and his assistant Jahangir in the court. Both were arrested last Monday. After presenting both of them in the special court of Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act), the agency again sought their remand for questioning. Accepting which the court has extended the remand of both of them for five days. Let us tell you here that ED had recovered Rs 35.23 crore in cash from the house of Sanjeev Lals assistant Jahangir. Three crore rupees were recovered from the house of builder Munna Singh, close to Sanjeev Lal. In the same case, agency minister Alamgir Alam has also been summoned for questioning.
